Tropical Weather Update for Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Tropical Storm Isaac is moving closer to the Lesser Antilles. Below is a look at the latest information.

The models still have some divergence in the path of Isaac. However, based on this morning’s models and upper air data, the most likely track looks to be northwest across the Dominican Republic and the Turks and Caicos Islands. The exact path once it passes the Turks and Caicos Islands is somewhat uncertain, however, our current thinking is more in line with the GFDL model, which takes it up the coast of Florida. This solution seems to be most plausible, but will be dependent upon the location of the ridge over the Atlantic. Tropical Storm Warnings, as well as Hurricane Watches, are in effect for these islands. We will be monitoring the progress of Isaac and update as needed.
