Thunderstorms from Southern Plains to Ohio River Valley

Thunderstorms are possible today from portions of the Southern Plains to the Ohio River Valley. Below is a look at the forecast maps for today.

The thunderstorm potential is associated with a cold front across portions of the Plains. This front will be the focus for thunderstorms later this afternoon and tonight. As these storms develop, hail to 1.5 inches, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes will be possible. It will be possible to have a few storms that produce hail larger than 1.5″ inches, but those storms will be rather isolated. The best chance for tornadoes, albeit isolated, will be across portions of the Ohio River Valley where the shear is more organized and there will be some low level convergence.
