THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
  NORTHWEST IOWA
  CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA
  EXTREME NORTHEAST NEBRASKA
  EXTREME SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA

* EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 345 PM UNTIL
  1000 PM CDT.

* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
  SCATTERED LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2
    INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE
  SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE
  A TORNADO OR TWO POSSIBLE

SUMMARY...THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT IS EXPECTED IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF
HOURS ALONG AND IN ADVANCE OF A COLD FRONT MOVING EASTWARD FROM
SOUTH DAKOTA TOWARD MINNESOTA/NORTHWEST IOWA.  THE STORM ENVIRONMENT
WILL FAVOR MOSTLY ORGANIZED CLUSTERS AND LINE SEGMENTS CAPABLE OF
PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL.  THERE WILL A SOMEWHAT
GREATER SUPERCELL RISK...WITH PERHAPS A TORNADO OR TWO...ALONG A
RESIDUAL BOUNDARY ACROSS SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL MINNESOTA.  THIS AREA
WILL BE MONITORED CLOSELY THROUGH THE EVENING...IN CASE THE TORNADO
RISK INCREASES TO THE POINT THAT A SMALL TORNADO WATCH BECOMES
NECESSARY.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 75
STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 10 MILES SOUTH OF
SIOUX CITY IOWA TO 35 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF SAINT CLOUD

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.
