Forecast for Wednesday, September 5, 2012

A shortwave trough will bring a chance for thunderstorms across portions of Illinois and Indiana today. Below is a look at the forecast maps for today.

While there was activity across this area this morning, more development is likely today ahead of the cold front associated with the shortwave trough over the Northern Plains and Great Lakes. As thunderstorms develop, hail to 2″ and damaging winds will be the main threats. Along the cold front associated with the shortwave trough, there may be a few storms capable of producing tornadoes, however, these will be rather isolated.
