Forecast for Wednesday, October 24, 2012

Severe thunderstorms are possible across portions of the Great Lakes and Northern Plains today. Below is a look at the forecast maps for today.

An upper level system over the Northern Rockies will continue to make its way eastward into the Northern Plains today. The cold front associated with this system will be the focal point for thunderstorm development later this afternoon as moisture advection and daytime heating allow for destabilization. As storms begin to develop, hail to 1″ and damaging winds will be possible, but some isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
