Forecast for Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Thunderstorms will be possible today for portions of the Northern and Central Plains. Below is a look at the forecast maps for today.

    

A weak area of low pressure and the attendant cold front will bring more thunderstorms across portions of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Daytime heating and plentiful low level moisture will allow thunderstorm development by mid afternoon today. Hail to 2″, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes will be possible with these storms.

Further south, a cold front may bring a few thunderstorms to portions of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Hail to 1.5″, and damaging winds will be possible with these storms. The time frame for thunderstorm development will be late afternoon through early evening. The damaging wind potential will primarily be mid evening.
