Forecast for Tuesday, September 18, 2012

Severe weather is possible today for a large part of the East Coast today. Here are today’s forecast maps.

An upper level system will move across the Great Lakes region today and provide lift for the development of more thunderstorms today. Damaging winds (bow echoes) and isolated tornadoes will be the main threats, but small hail (to 1″) cannot be ruled out. Storms will likely begin as cellular structures and then evolve into a squall line/bow echo. Parts of the Northeast may be upgraded to a moderate risk later today.
