Forecast for Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Thunderstorms are possible for portions of the Southeast and the Northern Rockies. Below is a look at the forecast maps for today.

Thunderstorms will be possible across the Southeast ahead of a weak front. As the atmosphere destabilizes and thunderstorms begin to develop, damaging winds will be the primary threat due to high precipitable water values. Some storms may produce hail up to an inch in diameter.

A weak shortwave will move into the Pacific Northwest today, providing some ascent across portions of the Northern Rockies. Small hail (to an inch in diameter) will be possible, but damaging winds will be the main concern.
