Forecast for Tuesday, August 7, 2012

Thunderstorms will be possible for portions of the Plains today. Here are today’s forecast maps.

A cold front associated with a shortwave trough will bring the potential for thunderstorms across portions of Kansas and Oklahoma today. Hail to 1″ and damaging winds will be the main threats, but the hail potential will be mitigated somewhat by dry lower levels and high WBZ levels, which will promote melting. The greatest threat for damaging winds will come tonight around sunset.
