Forecast for Thursday, October 18, 2012

No severe weather is expected, but some thunderstorms are possible for portions of the East Coast. Below is the convective outlook for today.

A cold front extending from portions of the Great Lakes to the Southeast will move eastward through the day. This front may provide enough forcing for the development of thunderstorms later this afternoon. As thunderstorms develop, damaging winds will be the main threat, but isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. The instances of both damaging winds and tornadoes will be rather isolated due to the lack of instability.
