Forecast for Thursday, October 11, 2012

A stormy pattern for the Plains begins today. This is a look at the convective outlook for today.

Thunderstorms will develop across portions of the Plains today ahead of a dryline that will move across portions of the Southern Plains. With daytime heating, plentiful moisture, and lift ahead of the dryline, thunderstorms will begin to develop this afternoon. As thunderstorms begin to develop, hail to 1″ will be the main threat.

The other area of concern will be across Southern California as the system off the coast approaches. Isolated tornadoes will be possible along the coast. In the higher elevations, snow will be possible. Snow levels will be between 6500 and 7000 feet, where 2-4 inches of snow will be possible.
