Forecast for Thursday, July 12, 2012

Thunderstorms will be possible across portions of the Northern Plains today. Below are the forecast maps for today.

A cold front over the Northern Plains will bring a chance for thunderstorms across the Dakotas and Minnesota this afternoon. Daytime heating and moisture advection due to southerly winds will help destabilize the atmosphere. As the storms begin to develop, hail to 1.5″ will be the main concern initially, but this evening with the loss of daytime heating, damaging winds will be the main concern.
