There won’t be much going on across the CONUS for the next few days, but there is activity in the tropics. Here is a recent satellite image.

Tropical Storm Leslie continues to0 move North-Northeast toward Newfoundland and is expected to intensify before reaching Newfoundland tomorrow. After it reaches Newfoundland, it is expected to transition into an extratropical cyclone.

Hurricane Michael is still a minimal category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds at 80 mph. It is expected to become a tropical storm by tonight and increase in forward speed tomorrow.

An area of low pressure west of the Cape Verde Islands is expected to become a tropical depression today. It is currently moving west-northwestward at 15-20 mph.
