Forecast for Friday, June 29, 2012

Thunderstorms are possible today for portions of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Below is a look at the forecast maps for today.

Very unstable conditions are setting up across portions of the Ohio River Valley this morning. Moisture moving northward and significant diabatic heating will contribute to destabilization through this afternoon. As thunderstorms begin to develop, hail to 2″ and damaging winds will be the main threats, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. The damaging wind potential will primarily come from the potential for bow echoes due to high CAPE values and unidirectional shear.
