Forecast for Friday, August 10, 2012

A cold front across the Northeast and Ohio River Valley will bring a chance of thunderstorms to portions of the Northeast and Mid Atlantic. Below are the forecast maps for today.

The potential for thunderstorms will be highly contingent on the amount of cloud cover today. Areas that are able to clear will destabilize more. This destablization and the forcing from the system across the Great Lakes will allow for the conditional threat for thunderstorms. If thunderstorms are able to develop, hail to 1″ and damaging winds will be the primary threats, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
